Florentine New Year

The Florentine New Year is celebrated each year with full out style and vigor, directly showing the colorful Italian culture. If you are adventuring through Italy in March do not hesitate to stop by Florence on March 25, the day marked as the Florentine New Year.

This day comes from the traditional story of the feast of Annunciation. Each year, the festivities of the Florentine New Year begin at the Palazzo Vecchio from which a morning parade is held featuring immense crowds and a medieval theme. The streets are filled during the parade with entertainment, creating an exciting experience. Next on the Florentine New Year all visitors and locals will head to the Piazza SS Annunziata where there is a large feast celebration catered by the best of the best outdoor Italian cuisine.

After the grand feast on the day of Florentine New Year such entertainment opportunities as outdoor concerts or viewings of frescoes in the churches will be held. All of the celebrations are done to welcome the new spring and celebrate the story of the Annunciation.
