Guided Tour of the Santa Croce Basilica
For all of those who are lovers of Italian art, the Santa Croce Basilica offers the best of the best. Since the restoration of the main Chapel of the Basilica, the sights are even greater and more splendid, featuring great scaffolding from which you can view magnificent frescoes.
Santa Croce Basilica is known as one of the oldest of its kind in Florence as well as one of the greatest. The church was founded in 1294 and has since experienced many restorations. Today, the Santa Croce Basilica has undergone one of its greatest restorations yet with the work done on the main Chapel of the Basilica.
For the first time since the major restoration, reservations are being taken for the guided tour of the Santa Croce Basilica. This guided tour will consist of viewing magnificent art from the great scaffolding, under hard hats. A marvelous feature of this guided tour will be the opportunity to admire the 600-year-old frescoes by Agnologo Gaddi, a descendent from the well-known Giotto school. The frescoes are known to depict the story of the true cross, a remarkable feature of the Basilica.
