Festival dei Popoli: Florence’s International Documentary Film Festival
The Festival dei Popoli, Florence’s international documentary film festival showcases both student and professional films for the second year in a row on November 12-19.
The 52nd annual Festival dei Popoli will feature documentaries focused on perceived reality this year. The Festival dei Poppli was founded as a non-profit over 50 years ago by a scholarly slew of anthropologists, sociologists and mass media experts. The festival is meant not only to allow socially inclined professional and student filmmakers the chance to showcase their stories, but also to larger platform for social science.
The festival still holds true to its roots, remaining dedicated to inspiring and promoting student filmmakers. Last year, the 51st Edition drew record numbers of viewers, confirming the Festival's status as a leader in documentary film in Italy.
This year's event will take place November 12-19. The festival will feature shorts, full lengths, documentaries, freestyle and retrospective films focusing on perceived reality. In addition to film screenings, the Festival dei Popoli will also host workshops, lectures, and special screenings geared toward Italian and foreign students.
