The Florence Epiphany is celebrated in different ways, known as the last celebration of Christmas. During this time in Florence there will be many events and festivities held, celebrating the story of the magi, nobel and wise kings and their significance during Christmas.
Florence has acquired many ways of celebrating the Florence Epiphany, all of which are exciting and entertaining festivities. If you are traveling in Florence over January 6, 2012, consider attending the annual celebration, known as the last of all Christmas festivities. The Florence Epiphany is an international holiday, celebrating the magi, nobel, and wise kings from the ancient story of Jesus’ birth.
The greatest of all of the events held on January 6 is an extravagant parade known as the Procession of the Magi. The parade continues through the beautiful streets of Rome on Florence Epiphany, directing traffic through the city’s center. During the parade you may see many participants dressed in elaborate costumes of the magi. The parade begins in Piazza Pitti and eventually will end in Piazza del Duomo.
Processions in celebration of the Florence Epiphany will also be held in small villages surrounding Florence. In addition, the Befana at the Museum is an event held by the Museum of Natural History of the University of Florence, and is known to distribute gifts to children, the way the magi did for Jesus, on the Florence Epiphany.
